My Story

Mr. Morrison is our new PE teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School this year. Martin Morrison was born in Binghamton, NY and graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in Physical  Education in grades K-12 with a minor in exercise science. He is also a certified personal trainer through N.A.S.M (National Academy of Sports Medicine). Some of his goals are to gain experience teaching and to get every student giving 100% effort regardless of their skill level. He also wants all students to gain knowledge about a variety of sports and the rules of each PE activity.

Some interesting facts about Mr. Morrison include his hometown, Binghamton, NY, is where the first Dick’s Sporting Goods was built and is where most of his family worked at the original store. He is a fanatic of the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, and the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL).  Growing up, there was an empty lot nearby.  The kids formed an empty lot league and called it the ELL.  Every free moment he would gather as many kids as possible, and they would play a variety of sports together.  Many kids he mentored became excellent athletes, and each one he guided ended up playing sports in college. That’s when Mr. Morrison knew he had a knack for teaching sports.

He also likes very hot sauce, as he has won the Hot Sauce Challenge in Vermont which included eating as many ghost pepper chicken wings as he could without using water or dipping sauce.
